WElcome to Philisani

Philisani NGO started with health education to community of UMhlathuze in 1998 when HIV/AIDS infection was taking its toll. Philisani was funded by the national Department of Health to train HIV/AIDS educators to provide health education and prevention of HIV/AIDS in schools and communities in 2001.The Provincial Department of Health gave Philisani an opportunity to train clergy men and woman on how to start HIV/AIDS community project at church. Most of the churches responded to this call and are still active in the communities. Philisani NGO later started on the project of implementing body respect and positive living in primary and High schools, to mention a few Bajabulile,Ikhandlela, Injabulo  Yesizwe, and Phesheya   primary school lat Ngwelezane with the aim of discouraging youth to engage in early and unsafe  sex and discouraging teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS and TB  infections .

Philisani was funded by DSD for HIV/AIDS programmes from 2004, for Home Based Care, Care for the OVCs and in 2017 introduced a re-engineering of programmes to incorporate community and schools’ programmes which are implemented by a professional Social Worker who then ensures that all the challenges or cases identified receive proper intervention.

Solidarity Fund

Our focus were GBV Prevention programme where young boys from the ages of 15 were mobilised and taught in targeted sessions by trained GBV mail Facilitators to try and discourage GBV and bullying at its infant stage.

We implemented Home Based Care, Social Behaviour Change programme, PLHIV support group and community awareness in the target area funded by PEPFAR on HIV/AIDS prevention programme. PEPFAR funded the training of CHWs on HIV/AIDS care, counselling and testing.
